"Mr. Pancake, you're under arrest!"

I'm not kidding, that's a real quote from a Columbus, Ohio, police officer who arrested a man at 5 a.m. on Tuesday after the man had broken into several stores, including a pet store from which he stole a few hamsters that were later found in his pants.

Bro's name is literally Matthew Pancake!

Here's the bodycam footage of Mr. Pancake being arrested.

"In the name of the law, Pancake, get on your belly!"

I just can't stop laughing at that!

Never — not in a million years — did I think I'd hear those words come from an officer of the law!

"There's multiple gerbils in his pants!" is an all-timer!

Pancake was in leopard print pajamas, too, which makes it all the better! I wonder if he was using those as a disguise when he snuck into the pet store.

Officers were called to Roosters at 5225 Nike Station Way near Hilliard just after 3 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the restaurant was broken into. Video evidence shows a man with long hair wearing leopard-print pajamas inside.

A nearby Petland store was also broken into, with several animals seen running around in the parking lot. Police recovered two dogs, multiple birds, a hamster and at least two bunnies. A Famous Footwear store on Hilliard Rome Road was also broken into.

Around 4:45 a.m., officers found the man, police later identified as Matthew Pancake, sleeping on a bench near Big Lots on Roberts Road …

As officers searched Pancake, they found four hamsters and bedding in his leopard-printed pajamas.

Imagine being the local news guy who had to report this story! He'll for sure never forget Pancake.

Mr. Pancake has been charged with breaking and entering as well as vandalism. No word yet on the whereabouts of Pancake's sidekick, Mr. Sausage, but I'll let you know if we hear anything — though no other persons were involved in the crime as far as we know.
