On Monday morning, the two separatist leaders in the regions made appearances on Russian TV to appeal to the Kremlin for help.

If you're thinking this looks too staged to be real, then you're not as dumb as you look.

This is the same thing Putin did to justify his invasion of Crimea in 2014. He massed forces, stoked civil unrest in the region, then used pleas by separatist leaders to justify moving troops into the area before officially annexing the region.

"It's not, how you say, 'invasion.' They asked me to come help them, so I come."

Putin knows how the game is played.

He also knows that Biden's playbook and players are exactly the same as Obama's in 2014. The West has been paralyzed by the ridiculous fear of a virus. His ally, China, is even more powerful than 8 years ago. He controls more energy reserves now, even as Western Europe has grown more dependent on his oil.

Why should he be afraid?
