I'm not trying to knock a perfectly fine Republican governor, but it does seem vital that, before you send a grieving spouse a condolence card, you make sure she's, you know ... alive:

(That's one way to put it, but I won't get into Jimmy's many blunders here.)

Rosalynn Carter passed away in 2023 at the age of 96.
I wonder if anyone on the governor's comms team woke up without a job today!
The governor's office thankfully fixed its mistake in short order:
Two hours later, the governor's office issued a revised statement that did not mention the former first lady.
Thankfully, neither President nor Mrs. Carter were around to be offended by the lapse.
