Another thing that's now racist: Hating the smell of body odor and dookie

Body odor: Everybody hates it, nobody likes it. It's super gross. I'm only speaking facts.

Little did you know that your hatred of B.O. โ€” and your disgust of other nasty things like poop and pee โ€” might in fact be a sign of that old boogeyman, racism!

Bizarre new research claims that people with a sensitive nose for disgusting smells are more likely to be xenophobic.

In a study across nine countries, scientists have linked a repulsion to sweat, bad breath and smelly feet with heightened disliking for refugees.

Ummm well, okay. I guess if that's what they figured out, okay then.

But what exactly inspired them to try and find a link between normal revulsion and xenophobia?

I'd love to see these guys at the chalkboard drawing up that hypothesis. It can't have been easy.

Actually the academic explanation of their findings is basic and pedestrian enough to be almost laughable:

'As in previous work prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, this relationship was partially explained by the perceived dissimilarity of the outgroup in norms relating to basic practices such as food preparation and hygiene.'

Sure, whatever. Glad they got to spend tons of money nailing this one down. ๐Ÿ˜‚
