Apparently this is how they make alligators down in Mississippi

I didn't need an excuse to never go swimming in any of Mississippi's wildlife-infested natural bodies of water, but if you need an excuse, here it is:

Four hunters killed the largest alligator in Mississippi history over the weekend, a beast weighing a jaw-dropping 802.5 pounds, measuring more than 14 feet long โ€” and aptly dubbed "nightmare material."

The prehistoric-looking beast was taken out Saturday in the Yazoo River on the second day of Mississippi's alligator hunting season, according to Red Antler Processing on Facebook.

This thing is so large that it would almost be like a joke, if it were not, you know, completely true:

Apparently it took these fellows roughly seven hours to beach this thing. "We hooked him eight or nine times, and he kept breaking off," one of the fishermen said. "He would go down, sit and then take off. He kept going under logs. He knew what he was doing."

Apparently so did they. The fellows finally landed this boss around 4 a.m., though only after he had broken "almost all of their rods and reels."

The beast's 802 pounds beat the previous Mississippi gator record by nearly 40 pounds.
