Apple released an ad for their new iPad Pro on Tuesday and the reaction was certainly not what Tim Cook expected.
Check it out here:
Yeah, so what we've got here is a giant hydraulic press squishing a million different items, from musical instruments to statues to paint to toys, and metaphorically condensing it into the thinnest iPad yet.
And, for some reason, people hated it.
Yeah, there's something about the imagery of taking all the physical things you use in life and destroying them, only to be replaced by a tiny little tablet that makes people realize what is happening in the technological revolution.
Many are horrified by the very clear message: We will destroy the things you love and replace them with our new Apple tech.
Compare this dystopian imagery to Apple's famous 1984 ad which was meant to show Apple rescuing humanity from a technological nightmare.
Pastor Michael Foster has an explanation of the problems he sees in the ad, and I think it's 100% spot-on.
This ad is terrible. Not because it lies, but because it's telling the truth.
Amen!
Tim Apple messed up with this one.
