Quite the damning revelation out of Arizona on Tuesday night:
An audio recording obtained by DailyMail.com reveals the extraordinary moment when what appears to be Arizona's top Republican official tried to bribe populist firebrand Kari Lake not to run in the state's Senate race.
Jeff DeWit, 51, chair of the Arizona Republican Party, can be heard asking Lake, a close ally of Donald Trump, to name her price to stay out of politics for two years.
'There are very powerful people who want to keep you out,' he tells her in a conversation recorded at the start of March last year.
DeWit in the recording says he was told to find out: "[Are] there any companies out there or something that could just put her on the payroll to keep her out?"
Lake, to her credit, refused, stating she wouldn't drop out even for "a billion dollars," according to the Mail:
"This is not about money, it's about our country."
Here's the audio:
It's worth pointing out that Lake has been a firecracker since emerging onto the national scene, including her glorious Trump-style takedowns of our wretched media complex:
Lake, meanwhile, cut to the chase after the audio leak this week, confirming the audio was real.
She also called for DeWit to resign.
"He's gotta resign. We can't have somebody who is corrupt and compromised running the Republican Party," Lake told an NBC reporter at former President Trump's New Hampshire primary victory party.
I agree, Kari, but I gotta ask:
Not sure why she waited nearly a year to bring this up!
