The border crisis has kind of receded to the background of the U.S. political debate over the past few months. It's still happening, but it's not the constant source of rancorous debate it was a short while ago.
Get ready for that to change, fast:
During a Yuma County Board of Supervisors meeting this week, supervisor Jonathan Lines revealed that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials have warned them that as many as 700,000 migrants are waiting in Mexico to rush the border when Title 42 ends.
"Border Patrol shared with us their intelligence that there are approximately 700,000, as of three weeks ago, in the shelters in Mexico waiting to come into the United States," Lines said.
Seven...hundred...thousand.
That's not just a casual number being tossed about. Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs's office "confirmed to Breitbart News that they too have been told by officials of the looming 700,000 migrants waiting in Mexico." Sounds like this number has been vetted.
A 700,000-strong surge of illegal immigration would, needless to say, be catastrophic for U.S. border towns. And the effects would doubtlessly stretch well beyond the border towns, too.
As officials noted, that number "exceeds the resident population of cities like Boston and Nashville, Tennessee." All of it coming into the U.S. under an administration that cares little to nothing about ensuring the security of our border.
