Australia floats crocodile habitat as location for 2032 Olympic rowing

The 2032 Olympics held in Australia might be the first Olympic games I'm looking forward to, at least if the Aussies plan to hold the rowing competition on the Fitzroy move forward.

The Fitzroy River is a natural habitat for Australia's saltwater crocodiles.

Australia's prime minister, Anthony Albanese, was non-plussed by the selection:

‘But I'm not sure that having rowing there, although I've got to say, people might break world records,' he said.

‘They'd want to go pretty quickly wouldn't they?'

Indeed they would, which would make the Olympic games so much better!

Brisbane Olympic chief, Andrew Liveris, dismissed those fears and said,

‘There are sharks in the ocean and we still do surfing,' Liveris said.

‘Creatures below the water … that's a bit kind of Hollywoodish, we'll leave LA to worry about that.'

Nothing is official just yet, and there's still time to secure the waters somewhat by baiting traps and removing as many crocs as possible, but there's going to be an element of risk in Australian waters that rowers and swimmers aren't used to.

Sounds like good entertainment to me!
