Not exactly the type of news you want to see on St. Patrick's Day, of all days.

A retired Baptist pastor is being prosecuted in Ireland because of his preaching from the Bible too close to an abortion clinic.

From The Christian Post:

The 76-year-old pastor, Clive Johnston, a former president of the Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland, faces two charges under the Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) Act, including allegedly seeking to 'influence' individuals accessing abortion services and failing to leave the area when instructed by police, according to The Christian Institute, which is defending Johnston.

Pastor Johnston's sermon took place on July 7, 2024, on a patch of grass near Causeway Hospital. The location was separated from the hospital by a dual carriageway, and about a dozen people attended the service, which included hymn singing and a wooden cross as part of the gathering.

Pastor Johnston was across the highway from a hospital preaching an open-air service that no one was forced to stop and attend. But because ritual child sacrifice takes place nearby he's facing time in jail.

The service didn't feature any anti-abortion signs or placards, and the sermon didn't even mention abortion.

But he preached on John 3:16 and proclaimed that God so loved the world.

Oh how St. Patrick would weep to see the state of Ireland.
