I'm with ABS on this one. Straight to jail.
The garbage opinion was published on Tuesday by the Washington Post. And yes, it's just as creepy, pedophilic, and all-around as disgusting a piece as the above excerpt would lead you to believe.
The author continues:
Anti-kink advocates tend to manipulate language about safety and privacy by asserting that attendees are nonconsensually exposed to overt displays of sexuality. The most outrageous claim is that innocent bystanders are forced to participate in kink simply by sharing space with the kink community, as if the presence of kink at Pride is a perverse exhibition that kinksters pursue for their own gratification. But kinksters at Pride are not engaged in sex acts — and we cannot confuse their self-expression with obscenity.
The author takes issue with the argument is that attendees are nonconsensually exposed to sexuality, but she's specifically talking about bringing her young children to the event, and I'm pretty sure they didn't just go of their own accord.
Also, could someone please clear up the confusion between self-expression and obscenity? Because I don't think those two things are mutually exclusive and in the case of the aforementioned spanking men in thongs, I'd say that self-expression is quite obscene. But that must be my bigotry talking.
The author goes on to explain the beauty of exposing young children to what she describes as "kink":
Sharing the language of kink culture with young people provides them with valuable information about safe sex practices — such as the importance of establishing boundaries, safe words and signals, affirming the importance of planning and research and the need to seek and give enthusiastic consent.
Remember she's talking about her children who were elementary and preschool-aged at the time they attended this Pride event. And presumably, she's referring to those same children who she's encouraging to plan, research and give enthusiastic consent when it comes to "kink."
Weep for the children who are being exposed to this wickedness.
