Ben Stiller came out and said he'll make "no apologies" for his hit movie Tropic Thunder.
Unless you've been living under a rock or have purple hair and excessive facial piercings, you have to admit this 2008 comedy was one of the funniest movies ever made.
Yes, Robert Downey Jr. wore blackface the entire movie, and our hearts bleed for 'Simple Jack,' but you have to try really hard not to laugh and acknowledge the satire.
This movie is hysterical, but the woke mob isn't exactly known for its sense of humor.
Typically, when the woke mob goes after their next trigger, most of Hollywood quickly caves and gives them whatever they want. An apology, public condemnation, their firstborn โ they'll do whatever they need to get the mob off their backs.
This makes it so much sweeter when Ben Stiller sticks to his guns and refuses to apologize for one of his best movies (because it may have hurt someone's precious little feelings).
When the actor was tweeted at and accused of bending the knee to the mob, Stiller had this great response:
I make no apologies for Tropic Thunder. Don't know who told you that. It's always been a controversial movie since when we opened. Proud of it and the work everyone did on it. ๐โ๐
He even threw up the fist! โ
Heck yeah.
For some reason, this needs to be repeated, and again... but please, never apologize for being funny.
Be joyful. Make fun. Bond over silliness.
The world is a serious place where bad things happen every day, don't take away what little happiness we have left โ like hilarious films like Tropic Thunder.
Comedies are supposed to make us laugh, right? But that's very hard to do when everyone is afraid of offending someone!
Let's re-embrace humor.
Be outrageous, push the limit, and take a risk! Make us uncomfortable until we burst out laughing.
Kudos to Ben Stiller for living in Hollywood but maintaining his pair. ๐ช
I've always said that there are no decent comedies made after 2010.
I need a good laugh. Prove me wrong in the comments. ๐
