In an interview with very-liberal Religion News Service, Beth Moore announced that she no longer identifies as a Southern Baptist. And Southern Baptists everywhere are nodding in agreement.
"I am still a Baptist, but I can no longer identify with Southern Baptists. I love so many Southern Baptist people, so many Southern Baptist churches, but I don't identify with some of the things in our heritage that haven't remained in the past."
Moore has also ended her longtime partnership with Lifeway.
She has often gotten into trouble on Twitter, including unintentionally announcing that she would be preaching in a nondenominational church:
Moore became the center of controversy again in 2019 after John MacArthur told her to "Go home," when asked his opinion of her. I guess she's decided to finally take his advice.
Moore has been a popular women's Bible teacher since the 90's, but unfortunately, her doctrine has gotten out of step with the SBC and it was high time to part ways.
Is this her lining things up for future announcements of further doctrinal drift? We shall see.
