Biden leads Trump by single digits in New York poll taken days BEFORE guilty verdict

I'm honestly very interested to see what these poll numbers look like when we get them again post-Trump verdict. For now, we have these numbers from just days before the guilty verdict showing that Biden leads Trump by single digits in New York, a state Biden won by 23 points in 2020 and Hillary by 22 in 2016.

New York, a blue state if I ever heard of one, is slowly slipping into MAGAism.

President Biden is ahead of former President Donald Trump in deep blue New York — but only by single digits, according to a 2024 election poll released Thursday.

New Yorkers favor Biden over Trump by a 7-point margin (48% to 41%) in a head-to-head matchup, the Emerson College Polling/The Hill/PIX11 survey found.

The 81-year-old president's lead expanded to 10 points in the Empire State when 12% of undecided voters were asked which candidate they were leaning toward voting for.

Trump, 77, fared better with third-party candidates on the ballot, garnering 44% support to Biden's 38% backing …

The Emerson College poll surveyed 1,000 New York voters between May 28 and 29. It had a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

A six-point lead when third-party candidates are included, just like they will be in November. A huge shift in the political tides of New York State — a state that just found Trump guilty on 34 counts in one of the most politically-driven trials in our history.

And in this day and age, it's no surprise that independent voters are leading this historical trend shift.

Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, noted that independents in New York are backing Trump by a significant margin.

‘Independent voters in New York who traditionally vote for Democrats, according to exit polling, have flipped to lean toward Trump by a margin of 10 points.'

Independent voters, more than ever before, are going to decide the 2024 election at both the state and federal levels.

Here are some other great indicators for the GOP in New York:

A majority of voters (58%) consider the number of migrants seeking sanctuary in the United States a crisis, 35% think it is a problem but not a crisis, and 7% think it is not a problem at all.

President Biden holds a 39% job approval in New York, while 50% disapprove of the job he is doing. Governor Kathy Hochul holds a 34% job approval, and 49% disapproval rating.

Voters were asked if they have a favorable or unfavorable view of New York politicians:

  • Kathy Hochul: 43% favorable, 48% unfavorable, 9% not familiar
  • Chuck Schumer: 45% favorable, 45% unfavorable, 10% not familiar
  • Kirsten Gillibrand: 44% favorable, 35% unfavorable, 21% not familiar
  • Eric Adams: 23% favorable, 52% unfavorable, 25% not familiar

Buckle your seatbelts, folks.

We're halfway through 2024, and the rest of the way is gonna be a wild ride.
