There are some Republicans who would argue with a straight face that THIS is what the authors of the 14th Amendment intended.
Chinese billionaires using surrogacy to pay for stranger's wombs in the United States so that they can have American-born children.
Just what Honest Abe hoped for?
The details:
The man was sending his sperm to women in the US, paying them to birth his male children (what happened to the female ones?), and giving them to California nannies to raise them.
He wanted to do this 20 times over.
I don't know whether this speaks more to the horrors of surrogacy and IVF, which are nearly completely unregulated and result in this sort of child trafficking and commodification, or the horrors of anchor baby birthright citizenship.

With the 14th Amendment's interpretation on the table for the Supreme Court, cases like this are certain to tilt in the favor of reinterpreting the amendment to prevent this sort of insanity from taking place.
Here's the assistant US attorney general's reaction:
This isn't an isolated case.
I'm starting to think the world is looting America and we should stop it.
All of it.
