We've got some unfortunate updates out of Rhode Island to get to.
Police have announced that the person of interest who was detained for Saturday afternoon's shooting at Brown University is not a suspect in the shooting and has been released.
As of Monday morning, we've got nothing on the shooter.
We do, however, know one of the victims in the shooting.
Ella Cook, a 19-year-old sophomore from Birmingham, Alabama, has been identified as one of the victim's and possibly the primary target of the attack.
Ella was a conservative Christian student and well-known on campus as the vice president of the university's College Republicans chapter - the only conservative group at the liberal Ivy League school.
ABC News has more on the victim, including a word from her home church at Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham:
The church's Rev. Craig Smalley announced Cook's death in his service on Sunday morning, calling Cook 'incredibly grounded and generous and faithful' and a 'bright light' in the church and in her community.
'Many of you heard about the tragedy, which happened at Brown University. ... And sadly, tragically, one of those people is one of our parishioners,' Smalley said during the service.
'She was engaged and involved in our worship and in our community, and as she served here at the church and in the wider community, in all sincerity, just a tremendous and bright light in there at Brown University as well, in the time that she was there, was such a light and such a witness,' Smalley added.
Rev. Smalley was emotional as he spoke to the congregation:
One other person was killed and nine more were injured by the attacker.
The other deceased victim is Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, a Uzbek student who graduated from Midlothian High School in Virginia last year and was studying to become a neurosurgeon. A statement mourning his loss was issued by the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan and CBS 6 News in Richmond confirmed his death and interviewed his sister. A fundraiser for the family is here.
Rumors spread over the weekend that Ella was the primary target when the gunman opened fire with two 9mm pistols with two 30-round magazines inside an engineering classroom, but this has not been confirmed.
The national president of College Republicans, however, believes she was targeted for her beliefs.
Before we have answers to those questions, the public wants to know who committed the crime.
Xi Van Fleet, survivor of communist China and conservative activist, penned this tribute to Ella Cook:
Pray for the family and friends of the deceased and the injured ... and that justice would be done.
