BREAKING: New York court delays Trump's sentencing until after presidential election
· Sep 6, 2024 · NottheBee.com

The New York court overseeing the Trump hush money trial has just announced that they are going to delay the sentencing until November 26.

From the court order:

ORDERED, that decision on Defendant's ... motion to set aside the jury verdict and to dismiss the indictment will be handed down off-calendar on November 12, 2024; and as is further ORDERED, that sentencing on this matter, if necessary, is adjourned to November 26, 2024, at 10 am; and it is further ORDERED that Defendants motion to preclude the People from filing a pre-sentence memoradum is DENIED. The People's submission, if any, will be filled with the Court under seal...

Originally, the court was supposed to sentence Trump, potentially putting him in jail, in September before the 2024 election.

This delay means that Trump will remain a free man for the remainder of the campaign.

This is a boost to Trump because it enables him to continue campaigning.

However, the political calculus from the court may have concluded that jailing Trump prior to the election might make him even more popular and increase the MAGA turnout!
