Britain's NHS will no longer prescribe puberty blockers to children

You know, we could learn something from the Brits, who live a whole two years or so ahead of us as far as social trends go.

Britain's NHS has just taken puberty blockers off the table for children suffering from gender dysphoria, and will now actually perform the science necessary to show what kind of impact the drugs actually have on the young body (I'll give you a hint: It's not good).

Puberty blockers, which pause the physical changes of puberty such as breast development or facial hair, will now only be available to children as part of clinical research trials.

The government said it welcomed the "landmark decision", adding it would help ensure care is based on evidence and is in the "best interests of the child".

It follows a public consultation on the issue and an interim policy, and comes after NHS England commissioned an independent review of gender identity services for children under 18 in 2020.

Glad they're going to go ahead and trust the science on this one. Social contagions can be quite the health risk if left unchecked.

In 2021-22, there were over 5,000 referrals to [Gender Identity Development Service], compared to just under 250 a decade earlier.
