The British government has awarded a woman $38,000 USD for the "insult" of being compared to Darth Vader on a random internet personality test.

No, really. This actually happened.

Lorna Rooke was a training manager for blood donations in the UK's National Health Service. One day, her coworkers decided to have some fun by taking a social media quiz together.

The team were taking a Myers-Briggs questionnaire with a Star Wars theme, with the result characterising each of them as a Star Wars character, the judgement explained.

Poor Lorna was out of the room at the time.

Afterwards, she learned that her coworkers had taken the quiz for her and she had been compared to Lord Vader because, as the personality test put it, she is a "very focused individual who brings the team together."

Instead of shrugging it off like billions of other people do when they get stuck with a bad result on one of those tests, Lorna decided to prove she's not like Darth Vader by being fearful, angry, hateful, and then making her coworkers and employer suffer in court.

An employment tribunal in Croydon, south London, found that the incident was a 'detriment', meaning it caused harm or a negative impact to Ms Rooke, who worked in a blood donation department.

She really turned this into a court case, folks. And she got paid almost $40,000 for it.

A staggering win for the Dark Side!

The claimant was made to feel 'unpopular' and suffered from low mood and anxiety in relation to her work environment.

I wish someone would have told me in middle school that I could cash out on feeling unpopular! 😭

Lorna said part of her decision to leave her job in 2021 after nearly 18 years of service was because she got compared to the Dark Lord of the Sith.

'Darth Vader is a legendary villain of the Star Wars series, and being aligned with his personality is insulting,' Judge Kathryn Ramsden said.

I'm sure paying out tens of thousands of pounds for the "insult" of being compared to a fictional character will set a great precedent for British courts.

On a personal note, I don't think the personality test was accurate. There are always two Sith, a master and an apprentice, and Lorna's hijacking of the legal system clearly has Master Karen vibes!
