UPDATE: 2:43 p.m. - After looking through the school website, it looks as if the confusing language, along with the picture of "We don't celebrate Halloween," caused people to be unsure of the school's policy.
There is no indicator that the school is canceling Halloween events.
However, there is peak irony in the fact that the school told students about the "vital importance" of celebrating "LGBT+ Month" for the entire month of October.
Original story:
What the fresh heck is this? You can't cancel Halloween!
Seriously, Burton Valley Elementary?
Halloween is a very popular holiday in the United States but about one-third of the U.S. population does not celebrate it. Respecting the decision of children and families at BVE to not celebrate Halloween and being aware of their decisions are essential for everyone to feel that they belong.
Bro, it's Halloween! Put on a costume or don't put on a costume. Take some candy from the jar or don't take some candy from the jar. It's not that complicated.
This is the freshest load of dog doodoo I've seen in a long time.
(Remember how 30 years ago people called Christians joy-killers and prudes?? Welcome to the new religion!)
This is the same district that celebrates โ IN OCTOBER! โ LGBT+ History Month.
LGBT History Month is an annual month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements. Each day in October, a new LGBT Icon is featured with a video, bio, bibliography, downloadable images and other resources.
Each day in October the Lafayette School District celebrates a new LGBT icon.
EACH DAY!
Think of how many normal families don't celebrate that culture-annihilating garbage of a "history month." But we're out here canceling Halloween?
Give me a break.
