Keep your eyes on the trees in San Rafael, California!
The bushy tailed menace has attacked five people, and it has sent two of them to the hospital … so far.
From ABC 7:
‘It just clamped onto my leg and was just hanging on. The tail was flying up here, I was like get off me! get off me! I didn't want to touch it,' Joan recounted.
Isabel Campoy said the squirrel almost killed her, and she has the wounds to prove it.
‘Squirrel went from the floor tried to jump up to my face, I tried to protect my face, my arm was completely overcome by squirrel. Finally it jumped off, by then I was full of blood, I run to the emergency room,' Campoy said.
There are warning posters all over the neighborhood now, and people are warily keeping watch for suspicious-looking tree rats.
Imagine seeing this as you go for a walk in your nice little suburb:
(I love that they started the poster with "This is not a joke" 💀)
So, what could cause a squirrel to go so bad?
Vanessa Potter of WildCare says,
If they associate people with food, they're not afraid of them. They will look for food. If they don't get it, there can be frustrations.
Oh, that makes sense.
The squirrel thinks the Californians are nuts.
