Canada's largest airport is on the hunt to hire a new director that is "as diverse as possible"

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), which operates Canada's largest airport, has a mission to "manifest the airport of the future."

Somehow, this means they need a new director whose top qualification isn't just airport expertise but rather a "deep and abiding commitment to advancing reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in all its forms."

Nothing says "airport of the future" like a director with a passion for pronouns!

The GTAA's job description states that the director will be crucial in advancing the CEO's mandate and the organization's goals, serving as the main liaison between the executive team and the CEO.

The DEI-committed director "must believe, intrinsically, in the importance of leading with curiosity and welcoming ideas that can later be synthesized and turned into possibility" and have a "leadership style that balances political astuteness, decisiveness, polish, and humour."

According to the Western Standard, GTAA has brought in BIPOC Executive Search as a third party "to ensure an applicant list that is as diverse as possible."

Finding a new director "as diverse as possible" is no easy task!

I imagine they/them must be a non-binary POC amputee with some form of autism or a speech impediment, at the very least.

Earlier this year, Pearson Airport allocated $770,000 to nine local organizations to hire a "diverse range of job seekers."

The recipients included groups such as

  • Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services

  • "African refugees who identify as 2SLGBTQI"

  • "Immigrant and Newcomer women"

  • YWCA Toronto's DARE project, which helps "women and gender diverse people."

Again, what does any of this have to do with ensuring Canada's largest and busiest international airport runs smoothly and safely?

Absolutely nothing.

But what more do you expect from the woke city of Toronto?

After all, this is what we get out of the director of the Canada Border Services Agency:
