Kedrin Simms Brachman said that she was cleaning out her late father's tool room at his Quebec home when she opened his toolbox and found a grenade loose inside.
Man, what is up with all these grenade stories lately?
She immediately called the police to come retrieve the explosive, and when police arrived at the scene and verified that it was in fact a real grenade, they called in the Canadian Armed Forces.
During the ordeal, Brachman was asked countless times if she had touched the grenade, to which she replied,
When the Army officers arrived, they told Brachman,
We normally get calls for these antique things and they aren't live.
But this one was live and had the detonator fully intact.
The woman is not sure exactly where the grenade originated, but she remembers her father bringing it home after his dad passed away around 30 years ago. Since then the live grenade has been rolling around unsecured in her dad's toolbox, even moving to different houses in that time.
Brachman said that while her dad was a bit of a live wire himself, finding a live grenade among his belongings was a surprise to her.
Brachman told CTVNews,
When everything was all clear, I went back around and told the neighbours. They were all now laughing and they were like, 'Well, Frank wants to make sure we're on our toes.' That's it in a nutshell. Frank wanted to make sure we remembered him.
