Carolina Panthers’ Russell Okung just became the first player in any major U.S. sports league to be paid in bitcoin

Back in May of 2019, NFL player Russell Okung tweeted "Pay me in bitcoin." Now his wish has finally been granted.

This dude's $13 million a year salary is now being split 50-50 between bitcoin and US dollars.

That's a lot of bitcoin.

Technically, he's not actually being paid in bitcoin. Instead, he's taking advantage of a service called Strike that converts traditional paychecks into bitcoin.

The cryptocurrency is worth about 273% more than when Okung first tweeted about it. But better late than never, right?
