Remember how CBS News deceptively edited an interview with Kamala Harris to make her look better?

CBS got in hot water with the FCC, which released the full, unedited interview because its network is allowed to use public airwaves, meaning it can't favor one political candidate over another and it must provide equal airtime for both.

The scandal caused the executive producer of 60 Minutes, Bill Owens, to quit the station in April.

Now the president of CBS News has resigned:

Oh, did I mention that CBS parent company Paramount has been sued by Donald Trump to the tune of $20 billion?

From The Times:

The situation prompted the executive producer of '60 Minutes,' Bill Owens, to resign last month, saying he no longer enjoyed his usual journalistic independence. At the time, Ms. McMahon took pains to signal her support for Mr. Owens, saying that 'standing behind' the producer 'was an easy decision for me.'

Her embrace of Mr. Owens and '60 Minutes' put Ms. McMahon at odds with Paramount executives who were anxious about the show's reporting about the Trump administration. Within CBS News, some journalists expected Ms. McMahon to be gone within months. But the timing of her announcement, less than 24 hours after Sunday's season finale of '60 Minutes,' still raised eyebrows.

Sounds like someone may have seen the handwriting on the wall.

Folks on the Trump communication team seem very pleased with this latest development.
