Check out the creepy walking robots (they blink!) that Amazon is testing to "free up" human staff

Here's some video that looks a little bit like a prequel to Terminator:

If Amazon can get these robots to do this type of work... well, Amazon is going to save a LOT of money on warehouse workers. The bots don't even need bathroom breaks.

From the BBC:

Amazon is trialling humanoid robots in its US warehouses, in the latest sign of the tech giant automating more of its operations.

Amazon said the move was about "freeing employees up to better deliver for our customers".

Yeah, it'll free them up alright.

Lots of free time to stand in the unemployment line!

If you're a factory floor worker, where exactly are you supposed to go?

It starts with a few weird robots, but before you know it, the droids have escaped with the plans for your super weapon and the whole galaxy is in chaos!

It's not just these 6-foot bipedal robots, either. Today has the scoop on a whole host of bots being used by the company right now.

It's starting to look like Wall-E over there!

Scott Dresser of Amazon Robotics says that while everyone is worried about these robots replacing human workers, the reality is that this creates MORE jobs for humans.

Mr Dresser suggested that the fears over human jobs being replaced didn't match what had happened at Amazon.

"Our experience has been these new technologies actually create jobs, they allow us to grow and expand. And we've seen multiple examples of this through the robots that we have today.

"They don't always run unfortunately and we need people to repair them," he said.

Technology always shifts jobs around. But what do y'all think? Should we oppose the robots?

Or do we trust Amazon when they say this is a better future?

I've seen enough sci-fi movies to be skeptical!
