We live in wild times.

So Greta (yes, that Greta) posted this on socials to show how she supports #TheCurrentThing.

Then, because we live in either the best or worst period of human history, the actual country of Israel replied to Greta with this:

A lot of you probably think only nerds understand intricacies of national alliances that led to WWI after the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand.

But try going back to 1914 and explaining our current mess to the people who lived during that time.

"Yeah, so we have this global communication network that we tap into with electric devices that we carry in our pockets. It's mostly used for videos of cats doing crazy things, but also there's this girl who dropped out of high school and thinks the Earth is going to die unless we give all of our money and freedoms to our governments (all our world leaders are in love with her). Also, there's a nation called Israel again and - spoiler alert - the Ottoman Empire is gone and has been replaced by a bunch of Arab states that all hate each other but hate Israel even more. Some of these Arabs just killed 1,300 Israeli civilians but this girl who thinks the Earth is going to burn is criticizing Israel's response to that so Israel is arguing with her on the global communication network about how environmentally friendly the Arabs' bombs are."

Anyway, I guess Greta needed something to make her relevant again. She's getting too old now for the rich and powerful to use as a vector for grabbing unlimited power.
