As a reminder, carjacking is not the same thing as regular car theft. Carjacking involves forcibly removing someone from their own car -- usually at gunpoint with violence or threats of violence or murder -- and stealing their ride.

This has happened 144 times in Chicago in 21 days.

They're on pace for 2,500 carjackings this year.
