Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has announced a plan to explore reparations payments to black Chicagoans, allocating $500,000 of the city's already underwater budget to a "task force" to explore the possibilities.

To summarize his speech, here is a list of the things he blamed on "systemic racism:"

• Highways

• Pollution

• Gun violence

• Health disparities

• High unemployment

• Closed schools

• Shut down public housing

Many pointed out the irony of the mayor blaming racism on a weekend marked by a wave of horrific black-on-black violence:

Sadly, it would seem Mayor Johnson will continue the legacy of those who came before him in keeping Chicago corrupt, violent, and poor.
