Coca-Cola has released a new "space flavored" version of Coke and apparently the company thinks space tastes like fruit and marshmallows

Have you ever wondered what space tastes like? Of course not—you have no desire to taste the cold, merciless vacuum of instant death that is the open cosmos.

But apparently there's some sort of market for that, and Coca-Cola is on it!

Coca-Cola's latest drink is out of this world!

The beverage giant on Thursday announced the release of Starlight, a new limited-edition soda that combines the original Coca-Cola flavor with what the brand calls "a dash of the unexpected," including a reddish hue.

Available in both in original taste and zero sugar options, Starlight has a unique taste that the brand says includes "notes reminiscent of stargazing around a campfire, as well as a cooling sensation that evokes the feeling of a cold journey to space."

Okay, um, again, "the feeling of a cold journey to space" isn't good. It's bad. It means your airlock malfunctioned, there's been a catastrophic mission failure, and you have died.

But wait: How does it actually taste? The Instagram account CandyHunting has the deets:

[The soda tastes] like Coca-Cola with added fruity and vanilla flavor. It tastes like strawberry, marshmallow, and/or cotton candy...

There is a very, very slight cooling effect that I only notice if I try to focus on it. It's not minty, just cooling.

Eh...that sounds...

Not sure I'll go out of my way to pick up a bottle of Starlight Coke. But let us know if you try one.
