A Somali immigrant who's been in America since 2006 has received the lightest possible sentence for his crime in Minnesota after a mosque wrote a "community support" letter on his behalf.
His crime?
Qalinele Ibrahim Dirie abducted a 12-year-old girl from her back yard, forced her into his car, and RAPED her.
The letter, written to ask the judge to consider a lighter sentence for Dirie, characterized him as a 'devoted family man', stating that 'starting over in a new culture' was one of the challenges he had to face in the U.S.
The young girl, who was playing in her backyard, was abducted and sexually assaulted by Dirie after he found out that her mother wasn't home.
Dirie, who was given the lightest possible sentencing for the crime, will only serve 8 of his 12-year prison sentence in jail
A St. Paul mosque wrote a support letter on this guy's behalf, calling him a "devoted family man," and saying he faced challenges adjusting to American culture ...
And they wrote the letter ... so he could hopefully get a lighter sentence for raping a 12-year-old girl??

The story of how the guy was caught is unbelievable. A month after the assault, on July 29, 2024, the 12-year-old girl was receiving text messages from the pervert.
From The Minnesota Star Tribune:
Her brother, who was 18 at the time, saw calls from Dirie on his sister's phone that she was not answering. She told her brother they were from her rapist.
When Dirie called again, her brother answered but did not speak. Dirie said, 'When can I see you again?'
The brother hung up and started texting Dirie through Snapchat, pretending to be his sister. Dirie made a reference to seeing the girl and bringing condoms.
Dirie soon arrived and saw the brother and the girl's stepfather in the living room. He tried to flee, but the brother blocked his path and called 911. Police arrived and arrested Dirie.
All this, and still the mosque pens a letter for him!
Matt Walsh entered the chat on this one:
Bro should be thrown in the darkest deepest hole forever (this is the moderate option).
Instead,
With credit for time in jail since his arrest, Dirie is expected to serve nearly eight years in prison and the balance on supervised release. He also must register with the state as a predatory offender.
