I can't wait to see how this works out for the Dems.
The New York Times ran a piece this week about "Dark Woke," featuring a picture of Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas.
The choice of photo was not random. Crockett best represents the face of the "Dark Woke" rebrand of the political left.
Democrats are trying out a new attitude. It's provocative, edgy and perilously toeing the line of not being too offensive.

Back to Crockett in a minute. For now, enjoy this description of "Dark Woke" from The Times:
There was a time last summer when the Democratic Party was cool.
Kamala Harris had just stepped in as the Democratic Party's nominee for president in the waning days of Brat summer. She went on the popular podcast 'Call Her Daddy.' Tim Walz's outdoorsy drip led to a Chappell Roan-inspired camo trucker hat. The memes were flowing, and the party's mood was high.
Sorry, one sec. I can't type right now...

I couldn't even make it past the first full paragraph without literally laughing out loud!
The only people who ever thought Kamala's "Brat Summer" was cool are aging far-left elites who live in blue-city bubbles.
In other words, writers at The New York Times.

It is amazing to see the NYT rewrite history like this. "We were cool but Trump killed our vibes" is not how 2024 happened.
What happened was that Kamala was insanely uncool and she spent more than $1.5 BILLION dollars to try to make herself cool ... and FAILED.
Oprah, "Call Her Daddy," and Tim Walz camo hats only appealed to her core audience: White-collar liberal women over the age of 50.
(In other words, writers at The New York Times.)
As liberals try to get their groove back, some party insiders say Democratic politicians have been encouraged to embrace a new form of combative rhetoric aimed at winning back voters who have responded to President Trump's no-holds-barred version of politics.
It's an attempt to step outside the bounds of the political correctness that Republicans have accused Democrats of establishing. And it requires being crass but discerning, rude but only to a point.
Online, it has a name: 'Dark woke.'
That's right. Long gone are the Michelle Obama days of, "When they go low, we go high." Now it's time for the party of Tolerance™ to fight Orange Hitler with cussing and shouting.
You know, like the cool kids do!
'Being able to use this strategy of being raw and unapologetic and unabashed about our beliefs is something our base really wants,' [Brooklyn councilman Chi] Ossé said. He referred to a quote by one of Mayor Eric Adams's advisers, Ingrid Lewis-Martin, who said, 'When they go low, you gotta dig for oil.'
"Dark Woke" focuses on being rude, crass, and edgy. Senate Democrats, for example, launched a "Sh-- That Ain't True" social media campaign.
But there's a disconnect: While dropping F-bombs might be the way that Cory Booker and Chuck Schumer try to be cool (good luck, lads), the term "Dark Woke" means something a bit more gruesome among the grassroots ...
The Times quoted a 29-year-old comms strategist, Annie Wu, who has worked for AOC and other Dems. I wanted to include her quote because it contains levels of delusion that are frankly marvelous.
'We can be bold, we can be petty, we can be punchy and still have a moral compass. We don't have to replicate the right's formula.'
Ah, yes, it's the political right that is known for its aberrant moral compass, foul-mouth, use of political violence, and murderous rhetoric.
It amazes me that leftist elites STILL don't understand that Trump being elected was a reaction to the violence and bullying of the Left.
This is why it's hilarious that Jasmine Crockett is being singled out as the hero of the Dark Woke movement. Decades ago, Saul-Alisnsky counter-culture punks controlled the Democrat establishment. They knew how to shame and bully their enemies into submission.
But in order to defeat the bully that the Right elected to fight back, the Dems have now chosen ... this as their avatar?
And my favorite:
And yet a spokesperson for the Democratic National Committee claimed the "Dark Woke" focus has led to more than 800 million impressions on social media this year, as well as a million new followers on the party's official X account.
Even The New York Times has doubts that this means anything as it pertains to winning elections:
It's not resonating with everyone. For some, the universal truism that it can never be cool to try so hard applies here. Others, too, have criticized Democrats for seeming to place a premium on affect over policy.
Alex Peter, a lawyer and left-wing commentator who makes content under the handle LOLOverruled, said the Democrats' new focus on viral 'dark woke' posts was just 'a lot of hot air.'
'Part of the problem with the mainstream Democratic Party is that it all kind of rings hollow,' Mr. Peter, 33, said. 'I don't care about another clapback. People want concrete deliverables.'
"A lot of hot air" is about all the Democratic Party has left to run on!
