BREAKING: Congresswoman Jackie Walorski of Indiana killed after oncoming driver swerved in head-on crash

Rep. Jackie Walorski and three others were killed Wednesday in Elkhart County, Indiana along State Road 19 when a driver traveling northbound in opposing traffic swerved into her lane.

"On August 3, 2022 at approximately 12:32 PM the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle crash on SR 19 south of SR 119," the local sheriff's office reported to Fox News. "A northbound passenger car traveled left of center and collided head on with a southbound sports utility vehicle."

The Republican representative had served Indiana's 2nd district since 2013.

In addition to Walorski, Zachary Potts of the St. Joseph County Republican Party, Walorski's communications director Emma Thompson, and the 56-year-old oncoming driver were all killed.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy shared the following statement from Walorski's office:

Before entering politics in 2004, Walorski served as a news reporter, the director of the St. Joseph County Humane Society, and as missionary with her husband in Romania. She was 58 years old.
