Couples that fight wars together, stay together?

Meet the Ukrainian couple who rushed their wedding while Kyiv was under attack.

Yaryna Arieva and Sviatoslav Fursin hastily shared their wedding vows inside a monastery in Kyiv as the air raid sirens blared just outside.

It wasn't exactly what they pictured their wedding day to look like.

They planned to get married in May on a terrace overlooking the river, but then Russia invaded and their plans quickly changed.

Arieva and Fursin quickly got dressed for the occasion and held a wedding ceremony before they picked up their guns to fight the Russians.

Love conquers all and these newlyweds are truly putting that to the test.

After the wedding, they headed off to the local territorial defense center to join efforts to help defend the country.

From CNN:

"The situation is hard. We are going to fight for our land," said Arieva. "We maybe can die, and we just wanted to be together before all of that... We have to protect it. We have to protect the people we love and the land we live on... I hope for the best, but I do what I can to protect my land."

The young couple was unsure what tasks they will be assigned, but they made it clear they will do whatever they can to protect their country. They hope that one day they will be able to celebrate their marriage "normally."

"I just hope that everything will go normal and we will have our land, we will have our country safe and happy without any Russians in it," Arieva said.
