Denver Broncos start rookie receiver at quarterback after all four QBs benched due to Covid (or "The 2020 NFL season in a nutshell")
· Nov 30, 2020 · NottheBee.com

Denver Broncos backup quarterback Jeff Driskell, who is usually unimportant and not worth talking about, tested positive for COVID-19 last week Wednesday and had to be put on the team's COVID-19 list. That would normally be fine, because, again, Driskell is replaceable and unimportant, but there was one small problem:

All four of the team's quarterbacks (including the unimportant one mentioned above) had met the day before to watch film and, according to SECURITY FOOTAGE, they were not wearing their masks correctly.

So NONE of the quarterbacks would be eligible to play on Sunday against the Saints.

The Broncos were desperate for a QB, so they ACTUALLY asked the league if they could move one of their assistant coaches into the starting QB position. Coach Calabrese played quarterback for Central Florida as recently as 2012.

But the league said no.

It was worth a shot though. And honestly, that would've been a really cool story.

The team then moved rookie PRACTICE SQUAD receiver Kendall Hinton into the starting QB spot. Hinton played quarterback at Wake Forest for a little while but then switched to receiver after losing the starting spot in 2017.

But, uh, let me just say Kendall Hinton is obviously an amazing athlete and we wouldn't want to suggest that someone who made it all the way to the NFL is not good at the sport...but this highlight reel from the game is very, very bad.

Anyways, Hinton and the Broncos lost 31-3.

Kendall Hinton went 1/9 for 13 yards and two interceptions.

Yes, he completed more passes to the Saints than to his own team. And I even saw the Saints drop a few.

Still, it's pretty cool that Kendall can now say he started an NFL game at Quarterback!
