Westfield, Indiana, man, David Fisher, aka "The Rope Warrior," happened to be out walking when he heard someone cry out.
'A neighbor's dog went onto the ice pond to chase the geese, and the dog is in the water,' Fisher said.
An 18-year-old man went after the dog and fell in attempting to save the dog from the ice.
'I just instinctively went right for my bag of jump ropes and pulled out the double Dutch ropes,' David said.
Wait, let's stop right there.
He instinctively pulled out his double Dutch jump ropes?

It turns out Fisher is a professional jump roper who currently holds the world's record for the most "rump jumps" in one minute.
I know we're leaving that poor kid and his dog swimming around in dangerous icy waters, but it's worth taking a minute to show you what "rump jumps" are, (not because "rump jumps" have any bearing on The Rope Warrior saving anyone, but I want to see how many times I can write "rump jumps" without my editor stepping in).

There's even a documentary about the guy.
Somewhat more related to saving someone, Fisher is also the creator of a superhero series called "The Rope Warrior" about a superhero with a laser jump rope.
So, I guess whipping out his double Dutch ropes when there's a call for help isn't all that odd after all.
I headed out on the ice pond, and as I started to go out there, I could hear the ice cracking underneath my feet. When I finally did arrive, I slung the rope to him, and he grabbed one handle, and bit by bit, we pulled him out of the ice pond.
The city of Westfield celebrated Fisher's jump-rope heroism with the mayor and the city council giving him awards for bravery.
Not bad for a guy who made his name bouncing over a rope on his butt.
