Queen Justine of Canada appears to be in panic mode.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was caught on a hot mic worrying that Donald Trump might actually want to annex Canada as the 51st state.
In a private meeting, Trudeau's comments were reportedly carried over the loudspeaker by accident.
'Mr. Trump has it in mind that the easiest way to do it is absorbing our country and it is a real thing. In my conversations with him on…,' Trudeau said of making Canada a U.S. state before the microphone cut out, according to CBC.
'They're very aware of our resources, of what we have and they very much want to be able to benefit from those,' Trudeau reportedly said.
Apparently, Trump's jokes about Canadians enjoying lower taxes and better healthcare under U.S. rule weren't so funny to Trudeau, who now fears a full-blown American takeover.
Canada's ministers quickly reassured everyone that, no, they won't be handing over the keys just yet. Meanwhile, Canadians are left wondering: is this really a "threat"?
Either way, maple syrup supplies remain secure — for now (unlike Castro Jr'.s political career).
