Dave Ramsey is getting sued for $150 million over timeshare advice he gave to fans
· Jun 2, 2023 · NottheBee.com

Dave Ramsey has forgotten more useful financial advice than many of us will learn in our lifetimes. His approach is pretty legit. You don't have to follow his specific programs, but you're reasonably sure to be solid if you do so.

Not everyone agrees, however:

A group of former followers of Dave Ramsey has sued the Christian finance guru and radio host, along with his company and a marketing firm, for endorsing a failed timeshare exit company that allegedly defrauded customers out of millions.

The "timeshare exit company" was Timeshare Exit Team. It worked by charging consumers up to $9,000 in order to extricate them from their timeshare agreements; the company offered a money-back guarantee, which it failed to do after going out of business following a lawsuit by the Washington State attorney general.

Note that this isn't a lawsuit merely over alleged bad financial advice. The plaintiffs claim that Ramsey and a group of colluders committed "negligent malpresentation" and were guilty of "unjust enrichment" as part of a deceptive scheme.

The complaint alleges Ramsey was paid "as much as $30 million from 2015 to 2021" to endorse the now-failed financial company.
