Update: The target did seem to be the NFL headquarters.

The off-duty officer killed was a 36-year old immigrant from Bangladesh.

Original story:

On Monday evening, a man reported as Shane Temura walked into a NYC high rise and opened fire with an AR variant rifle.

The 27-year-old exited his car and walked into a skyscraper at 345 Park Ave, just blocks from the Rockefeller Plaza and other high-traffic areas.

Upon entering the building, he shot and killed a NYPD officer in the lobby who was working off duty as a security guard.

The suspect then reportedly made his way to the 33rd floor, killing at least 4 other people along the way. Office workers began barricading themselves when they heard gunfire, because this is New York, and you're not allowed to have a blaster to protect yourself.

(As a side note, CNN was its usual fake-news self, apparently telling people that Tamura was possibly a white dude.)

Tamura ultimately took his own life.

Since the attack, people have been scrambling to figure out the motive for Tamura's rampage.

A few people found an old post from 2018 where a friend claimed to be searching for him.

In a nine-year-old video posted to YouTube, a young Temura can also be seen on a football field where he is introduced as a running back for Granada Hills Charter High School in Los Angeles:

Temura also had a permit for concealed carry. The weapon he was carrying was an AR-15 with a Palmetto State Armory lower, a sling, a sight, and a tactical flashlight ... meaning he seems to have known his way around modern gun platforms.

The skyscraper he attacked houses a number of major firms and businesses, including finance giant Blackstone ... and is the national headquarters of the National Football League.

Social media sleuths claimed that Temura had won six awards during his football career and had even played in Canada at one point. Given that the building houses NFL HQ, many assume that was the target of his attack.

Other people have pointed to different reasons for the rampage...

We'll have to wait until later tonight or tomorrow morning for a possible motive, as well as details about who was killed.

Tune back in at that time for more info.
