Apparently, the Washington DC military police were a little nervous about some protests near the White House. So, in the most future-is-now move ever, they asked to borrow a heat ray gun from the National Guard!
The heat ray, more officially known as an Active Denial System, shoots a "harmless" microwave beam that makes the target feel like their skin is on fire! Which, to be fair, probably feels somewhat familiar to many of the protesters anyway...
