Jeff Bezos's "democracy dies in darkness" newspaper has lost 500,000 subscribers since President Trump left office, which has led to the need for some budgetary tightening including staff layoffs. The following video from Post reporter Annie Gowen shows the reaction to that announcement:
Just as a side note, when you know your company is about to start laying off people, it might not be the best time to start posting gotcha videos of the publisher and CEO Fred Ryan online.
Still, when Ryan says the event isn't going to be a "grievance session" to a room full of its reporters asking questions, you get an idea of how dire the situation at WaPo really is, and why they're bleeding readers.
How many grievance sessions do they have there?
Let's not forget this is the home of Taylor Lorenz who's been known to manufacture a tear or two, and who's record of making up the truth speaks for itself:
Not to mention the whole Libs of TikTok controversy:
Considering The Washington Post's questionable coverage of events and the reporters in its employ, it's a wonder the newspaper has not lost more subscribers.
Still, I hate to see a bunch of folks lose their jobs. It's a hard world out there, and John Kerry's solution of learning to code isn't going to do much good as the tech world is laying off people as well.
There are a ton of blue-collar companies looking for workers. Maybe it's time for a new slogan for the woke crowd finding themselves going broke?
