Tuesday evening, news broke that New Jersey Congresswoman LaMonica McIver had been indicted on multiple charges after an incident at an immigration detention center last month.
The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, who vowed to hold the Democrats involved in the stunt accountable:
Here's more on the story from CNN:
McIver had been charged in a complaint by Habba last month with two assault charges stemming from the May 9 visit to Newark's Delaney Hall — a 1,000-bed, privately owned facility that Immigration and Customs Enforcement uses as a detention center.
McIver disputed the allegations as baseless and defended her presence at the facility as part of her authorized role as a member of Congress.
Yeah, because all members of Congress are totally allowed to interfere with federal law enforcement officers. McIver released a statement of her own addressing the indictment and vowing to fight the charges:
McIver previously made headlines with her remarks at a Democrat rally protesting Elon Musk and DOGE being given access to the Treasury Department:
Depending on the outcome of this indictment, she might end up calling herself a "prisoner of war."
