A year ago, everyone was riding high from Donald Trump's landslide election victory and excited by talk of him appointing Elon Musk to lead a "Department of Government Efficiency."
Twelve months and an on-again-off-again friendship later, Musk has regrets about his time working in the government.

The former chairman of DOGE - which was quietly shut down at the end of November - admitted on Miller's podcast that his effort to slash government bureaucracy was not a complete success.
'We were a little bit successful. We were somewhat successful. I mean, we stopped a lot of funding that really just made no sense. That was just entirely wasteful,' he said.
While he stood by DOGE's mission and what they accomplished, he admitted that he would not lead the charge again, knowing what he knows now.
'I mean, no, I don't think so,' he said.
In addition to no longer feeling the motivation to wallow in the federal waste cesspool, Musk pointed out the backlash he suffered from doing so.
When pressed that he gave up a lot to launch DOGE, he said that people were furious that he was going after corruption.
'If you stop money going to political corruption, they will lash out, big time. They really want the money to keep flowing, so if you stop it from flowing, there's a very strong reaction to stopping the money.'
Musk told Miller he never became 'disillusioned' with Washington DC because he was 'never super illusioned to begin with.'
'You really want the least amount done by government possible.'
Amen to that, Elon.
While Elon has become jaded about the government's ability to do, well, anything, he did have an interesting answer to a question about God.
That's a far cry from professing faith in Jesus Christ, but it's different than the answers Elon has given before. Something has shifted in him since The Bee asked him to accept Christ a few years back 😂
