Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say that it's about time.
Diego Ibarra was the brother of the murderer Jose Ibarra who sexually assaulted and then killed a Georgia nursing student in cold blood. And now Diego is receiving the treatment he and his brother should have received while Laken was still alive.
Diego 'Gocho' Ibarra, 29, of Venezuela, was sentenced Wednesday to four years behind bars after pleading guilty to two counts of possession of a fraudulent document July 15, 2024.
The sentence was above the federal sentencing guideline range, and he will not be eligible for parole.
Diego, his brother Argenis, and their female friend Rosbeli "La Gorda" Flores-Bello were living together in Athens, Georgia (a sanctuary city) after illegally entering the country.
Diego, it turns out, entered the US illegally multiple times, fought with and tried to bite a Border Patrol agent, blamed said Border Patrol for injuries sustained while illegally hopping the border wall, and then claimed "asylum," which allowed him to stay here no questions asked.
All three of the roommates were arrested after Jose was arrested. All admitted to faking green cards and other documentation.
But Diego is the first to be found guilty and he has now been handed off to ICE for deportation.
Hopefully the others won't be far behind!
