Disney did an about-face on trying to toss out this widower's wrongful death lawsuit after the story went viral

It's nice to see the evil villains lose every once in a while.

After a week of being destroyed in the news for being evil and heartless, Disney has backed down.

A man, whose wife tragically died at Disney after eating food containing allergenic contaminants, sued for $50,000, presumably to cover medical and funeral costs for his deceased wife.

Only $50,000.

Disney lawyers had attempted to get the lawsuit moved out of courts into arbitration, claiming the terms and conditions of the Disney+ free trial the man had subscribed to gave Disney absolute immunity from being sued (really).

Jeffrey Piccolo's wife Kanokporn Tangsuan died of severe anaphylaxis after eating at a Disney Springs restaurant in Florida, even after stressing to the waitstaff her severe allergies to nuts and dairy.

After being obliterated in the news and on social media, Disney has finally backed down and allowed the case to proceed in court.

Here is the mealymouthed statement from a Disney spokesman:

At Disney, we strive to put humanity above all other considerations. With such unique circumstances as the ones in this case, we believe this situation warrants a sensitive approach to expedite a resolution for the family who have experienced such a painful loss. As such, we've decided to waive our right to arbitration and have the matter proceed in court.

Gee, thanks, guys.
