This is gross. It's just gross, gross, gross.
Disney's CEO said Friday the company is ceasing its political donations in Florida due to the state's so-called "Don't Say Gay" bill, and he apologized for the company's previous silence on the issue.
"You needed me to be a stronger ally in the fight for equal rights and I let you down," CEO Bob Chapek wrote in a statement to colleagues and the LGBTQ+ community published Friday. "I am sorry."
Just for reference, the state's "Don't Say Gay Bill" is one that (a) increases parental transparency in education, and (b) forbids schools from teaching transgenderism and homosexuality ideology to students between grades K-3.
Yup that's...pretty much it.
Here's the relevant portion of Chapek's letter:
Starting immediately, we are increasing our support for advocacy groups to combat similar legislation in other states. We are hard at work creating a new framework for our political giving that will ensure our advocacy better reflects our values. And today, we are pausing all political donations in the state of Florida pending this review.
So, in short, Chapek is vowing that Disney is going to bankroll efforts in other states to ... keep transgender ideology in kindergarten classrooms? Is that correct? Really?
I'm thinking I might "pause" my own personal contributions to Disney, forever.
