You read that right. Our nation's lightning-rod former president was just elected by two write-in votes to serve on a board of a rural fire district in Oregon.
And to give you an idea of how rural we're talking, it was two total write-in votes, not two more than anyone else.
In fact there were four other people who also got two votes, and the decision came down to a roll of the dice to decide which one would be able to serve. And by a cast of the lot, Donald J. Trump came out as the victor.
It's unknown if Trump will accept the position or if he's even eligible since he doesn't own land in the area.
Marion County Clerk Bill Burgess said,
"It is up to the fire district to determine whether Trump is eligible to hold office.
"I'm not sure how the fire district is going to determine if Donald Trump or a Donald Trump owns property," Burgess said. "The likelihood is probably not great since we don't even have a Donald Trump registered in the county."
Honestly, if he's eligible, I think Trump should consider this a divine appointment.
After all, we all know what the good book says,
The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD. Proverbs 16:33
Plus, imagine how entertaining it would be if he wore a fire hat and gave interviews about how much better Oregon's forest fighting is than California's.
