Elon Musk is making a Tesla robot to eliminate "repetitive and boring tasks" and I'm not sure whether to clap or prepare for war with the machines

I'm sure this is fine.

Musk, who has spoken repeatedly about his fears of runaway artificial intelligence, said the Tesla Bot is "intended to be friendly," but that the company is designing the machine at a "mechanical level" so that "you can run away from it, and most likely overpower it."

While I'm kinda curious to see Tesla tech in a robot, I love that he had to qualify that these things will be weak.

As nice as it is to know they are "friendly," how about programming them with Isaac Asimov's three laws JUST to be sure?

At least if things go wrong, we'll have Will Smith to save us!

It will be five feet, eight inches tall, weigh 125 pounds, and have a screen for a face. The code name for the bot inside the company is "Optimus," he said.

The robots will be designed to handle "tasks that are unsafe, repetitive or boring," the company's website reads, but little else, at least at first. (There, the bot is simply called "Tesla Bot.") "I think essentially in the future, physical work will be a choice, if you want to do it you can," Musk said.

So basically, after we get a prototype of this in 2022, we're all going to become the people in WALL-E.

Maybe a Terminator or Matrix timeline would be better after all!

I'll leave you with this weird dance as we all ponder our fates:
