Ever read a Christian book?
Chances are the publisher belonged to the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA).
And to make sure all the Christians are properly indoctrinated, the ECPA has introduced a DEI certification program for its members.
The certification includes the following modules:
- DEI INDUSTRY CONVERSATIONS MODULE - 8 hours
- DEI & LEADERSHIP MODULE - 8 hours
- DEI & EDITORIAL MODULE - 6 hours
- DEI & MARKETING MODULE - 5 hours
- DEI & CHRISTIAN FICTION MODULE - 5.5 hours
- DEI & CHILDREN'S BOOKS MODULE - 3.5 hours
Literally hours of fun!
The ECPA certification program is the brain child of ECPA board member Tina Constable, who heads the DEI committee. She is the head of Christian imprints at Penguin Random House.
Constable rose to power as a publisher because she directed the publication strategy of A Promised Land by President Barack Obama and Becoming by Michelle Obama.
"There is value in attempting to see the world from perspectives and experiences that differ from our own," states Ed Gilbreath of Christianity Today. "Though this library is specific to Christian publishing, it is still an important step of humility and grace to listen to those who have experienced the industry differently." Ed is the author of Reconciliation Blues: A Black Evangelical's Inside View of White Christianity (IVP).
Members will also be able to "appreciate the steadfast efforts of industry colleagues who were willing to be involved in these hard conversations."
Publishers you might recognize that belong to the group include
- Crossway
- David C. Cook
- Focus on the Family
- Gateway Publishing
- Ligonier Ministries
- Tyndale
Just to name a few.
Even based newcomer Brave Books is on the list.
There's nothing that suggests that members have to do the DEI training, yet it's another reminder that there's no industry that's safe from thIs dangerous ideology.
