Clinton Township in Michigan got a 4th of July precursor, but a super dangerous one that killed a man and injured a firefighter.
Select Distributors, a warehouse that distributes nitrous oxide tanks and vaping supplies, went up in flames on Monday.
In fact, the initial reports thought it was a fireworks factory.
And the display lasted hours.
Nitrous oxide is also known as laughing gas and is used as a sedative in medical procedures (think of all those kids acting funny when they get their wisdom teeth pulled). It's called NOS in the racing community because it can give a boost to engines by burning fuel faster.
Police warned residents to stay away from the area as they could be hit by debris; some of it flying up to a mile away. A 19-year-old man was killed when a butane canister hit him from a QUARTER OF A MILE AWAY.
Some of these videos show the dangerous flaming debris flying out of the explosions.
The explosions could be heard for miles.
Yikes.
